Nursing Museum

Something a little different. Join us for a VIP tour of the Nursing Museum at Concord Hospital. The Museum collects, preserves, displays and researches objects, material and information relating to Australian military nursing and the early history of Concord Repatriation General Hospital. It has an interesting collection of nursing uniforms dating to the Boer War. There is also a document collection consisting of diaries, personal papers, photographs and memorabilia of military nurses from the 1890’s through to the Vietnam War.

Followed by lunch in the 5 Senses Garden.

Kokedama is an ancient Japanese technique (meaning moss ball), where a plant’s root system is bound with moss and string, transforming it into a mini work of art.

  • Take home a kokedama of your own making.

Create your own succulent Kokedama Moss Ball with the Plant Artisan, Jo

Fun and easy to make, kokedama are just the thing to add a little greenery to almost any indoor or outdoor space. Originating from Japan, kokedama is a method of containing plants in a soil mixture and securing the plant and soil mix with moss using twine. Artist and maker Jo will explain this style of bonsai and the art of creating living designs, which closely resemble forms found in nature.

Australian Therapeutic Landscapes Conference 2018 

Our theme for this year is:

‘Going Public’: encouraging therapeutic horticulture in public spaces.

Presentations will aim to lead and inform delegates on how therapeutic garden design and programs address public health issues. Speakers will also highlight innovation, best practice and research in therapeutic horticulture.

Conference delegates would include horticulturists, landscape designers, occupational therapists, diversional therapists, recreation activities officers, health professionals, academics, researchers, students and volunteers.

If you’re after a local event this spring, pencil in the 2018 Rivendell Flower Show. This year our Garden Aid Team are a feature garden exhibitor. So make your way there and visit our stand.                                                                                                                                    

The city of Canada Bay will have a major presence at the show and will be promoting the 5 Senses Garden.

Our exhibit will be themed on sensory and healing gardens and be a taster of what’s to come in the 5 Senses Garden.

One client will win two free passes to the show. To go into the draw please call our office and register your name by 25 September. The lucky winner will be notified by phone.
